Howard Tenens discovers the power of Kallikor’s Warehouse DesignLab to enhance operations

Kallikor and Howard Tenens have worked together using Kallikor’s Warehouse DesignLab intelligent simulation solution to enhance real world operations within one of their current warehouses.

Howard Tenens is widely recognised as one of the most forward thinking and fastest growing logistics businesses in the UK. Partnering with Kallikor’s Warehouse DesignLab meant Howard Tenens could build upon this reputation with an innovative, agile and engaging approach to designing services to meet ever-evolving customer requirements.

We’re always looking for innovative ways to enhance our operations. Partnering with Kallikor’s Warehouse DesignLab allowed us to explore how AI-driven simulation can drive efficiency and continuous improvement to support our customers.

The Warehouse DesignLab proof of concept has demonstrated the value of using advanced modelling to assess operational changes within one of our current warehouses.

By making powerful simulation simple with Warehouse DesignLab, in a matter of days Howard Tenens were able to leverage highly accurate simulation technology and provide data-driven insights into how different scenarios could impact a warehouse’s performance. With changes validated before being made in the real world, Howard Tenens have identified how they can save time, reduce costs, and ensure seamless operations. For example, simulations have provided the ability to understand the impact of future order volumes on warehouse performance, such as when onboarding a new customer or due seasonal demand fluctuations, and address any bottlenecks ahead of time.

By simulating adjustments to inbound and outbound movements, capacity, or resource allocation, we could easily identify the areas that had the greatest demand. This would enable us to communicate the impact of these changes more effectively to our customers, ensuring greater transparency and understanding.

Additionally, in more complex operations where labour is split across multiple workstreams and traditional forecasting methods struggle, the simulation could provide immediate insights, allowing for more accurate planning and decision-making.

The exercise also demonstrated how high-speed, visually engaging simulations can offer an interactive way of demonstrating operational capabilities to potential clients. By identifying discrepancies early, Howard Tenens can proactively address performance gaps and engage in transparent, data-backed conversations with customers, ensuring that commercial agreements reflect warehouse performance in the real world. Importantly, feedback from the pilot has shown that Kallikor’s Warehouse DesignLab can be used by a wide range of users, no matter their simulation experience. Without having to rely on external coding knowledge or specialist training, users can quickly navigate the platform, adjust key variables, and run varying warehouse scenarios. This empowers everyday decision-makers to adapt and optimise operations quickly and confidently.
